When it comes to stripes, there’s always this dilemma whether to opt for horizontal or vertical stripes. For the vertically challenged, going with vertical stripes can be an added bonus as it makes you appear taller by adding a few inches to your height. But if you’re already over 6 feet tall, piling on a few more inches would make you seem taller than you actually are. In such cases, you can go for horizontal stripes. But stick to just a couple of bold stripes against a solid background or a series of thin stripes against a plain background, just like a sailor’s uniform. With a few exceptions, horizontal stripes are also a great choice. But then again, if you’re a little on the plus side or have a little paunch, then you must choose horizontal stripes with care.
So, here’s the verdict:
- If you want to go for horizontal stripes and you have a toned frame then you’re the lucky; ‘Cos you can pretty much pull off anything.
- But if you’re on the plus side and still want to do the horizontal stripes, the go for a few solid stripes with a dark background.
- If you’re tall, then it’s preferable to stick to horizontal stripes, but you can also experiment with bold vertical stripes once in a while.
