We’ve been shadowing all the top designers and brands during the week-long fashion festival aptly titled the New York Fashion Week. But it was the star-studded Jill Stuart presentation on Saturday, September 12, 2015, that reminded us why we still love the 70’s fashion! Although the collection was designed for spring-summer 2016, it looked more apt for this winter. Read on to find out why…
One thing you’d expect from any summer collection is a lot of colors, prints and fluid fabrics; a lot of shorts, sheer tops and basically a number of ways to beat the heat and show off some skin in the most fashionable way ever, right? As for the Jill Stuart collection, it swayed fashionably downtown; yes, the collection did feature fluid fabrics, but how? There were a lot of flared pants made from all possible materials like chiffon, crepe, silk and satin that was fluid in structure but their colors were vivid and detailed and felt a bit derivative!
The star designer artfully blended 70’s inspired fashion with vintage cuts and silhouettes to give us a unique range of clothing that was modern yet chic. One of striking designs featured a pair of tangerine velvet pants teamed with a satin one-shoulder tiered top in blazing red. If you thought that was the only remarkable piece showcased, wait until you check this one out: one of his models walked down the runway clad in a floral-printed floor-length sleeveless maxi gown with a waist belt! But guess what she accessorized it with? A creamy ribbed full-sleeve crop sweater!
